I use my illustration and graphic design skills when creating my screenprints. I start with an initial drawing. I do a lot of research and development before and during my drawing process. Then I take an image of the drawing and vectorize the design using Adobe Illustrator. I do color separation and then print the design in black on transparency paper. Then I burn the design into screens with photo sensitive emulsion. After the image is burned into the screen and washed out, I print my designs on various substrates, primarily paper and fabric. All of my screenprinted designs are made only to be sold as original, hand-pulled prints.
Rose Design Screenprint
For the rose screenprint, I was researching rosettes that were illustrated in various ways. I pushed the design in a way that gave it an antiquated presence while using a contemporary mono-line design. I was able to do so by imitating the curves found in rosettes that are found in churches and illustrated in old etchings and engravings. I also worked in a direction that gave the design an Arts and Crafts Movement feel. I looked at many of William Morris's wallpaper designs as inspiration.

Symmetrical Floral Pattern Screenprint
This pattern was inspired by the Arts and Crafts Movement designs. I did research and development on the line work, colors, and layout. The leaf design is based on William Morris's Acanthus wallpaper.

Printmaker Business Card
This design is meant to be handed out at art fairs in which I am participating. This design leans to the etching and intaglio side of my work. I illustrated an eye, a scaper, and an etching needle. I used the typeface Serenity that is available with my Creative Cloud subscription. I very much enjoy working with typography. I have many, many typefaces that I love to work with. Serenity was the one that worked best on this design because of the "mono-line" nature of the typeface. It worked well with the intended "mono-line", contemporary illustration style. I made the design "mono-line" to match the nature of the line created by the etching needle and subsequent acid bath.

Dahlia in Belljar Screenprint
For this screenprint, I leaned heavily on the graphic aspects of the design. I experimented with the stroke weight. To make it a cohesive design, I used variety and repetition to pull together the geometric bell jar shape and the organic movement of the dahlia flower, leaves, roots, and butterfly.

Tulip Pattern Screenprint
This pattern is inspired by traditional Turkish tulip "motifs" from iznik tiles. I drew and vectorized the tulip motif, and then I experimented with the pattern. This screenprint is the product of my research of traditional Indian block printed textiles, as well as, Arts and Crafts wallpaper. It is printed on different colors of paper. I maintained the integrity of the Turkish tulip motif by using the red and navy blue ink.

Stars Design with Copy Screenprint
I got some inspiration from some designs I saw on Pinterest that were centered around a specific typography that was chosen. I came up with this copy/phrase myself and designed the entire composition with the copy in mind. I worked with the layout thoroughly and drew the copy exactly as I wanted it before choosing a typeface. In the end, I chose rounded Gotham as the typeface. This typeface is beautiful, strong, and holds its own when heavily tracked out.
