Queen Anne's Lace Cyanotype 1
This 16 inch by 20 inch cyanotype was created using photosensitive chemicals applied to white Stonehenge printmaking paper. The print was exposed in direct sunlight for approximately six minutes, after which the chemicals were removed by washing them out in a water bath. The image exposed is that of the underside of a Queen Anne's Lace flower during a very sunny day.
Because the chemicals are applied quickly with a brush, every cyanotype has different borders and brushstrokes around the exposed image. Also, because of clouds and time of day (position of the sun) the exposure intensity may vary, which creates differences in contrast of the exposed image.
